CIS** will offer grades kindergarten through tenth in the 2012-2013 school year. Each class will have approximately 20 students, and only one class will be offered at each grade. How does the CIS enrollment process work? We will have a registration period annually for the next school year only. The open registration period for the subsequent school year will be held in early spring—periodically check our website for specific dates. Applications may be picked up and submitted during this time period. The number of available spaces will be determined by subtracting the number of continuing students and their incoming siblings, who are given preference, from the total number of spaces for each grade level. If the number of applicants is less than or equal to available spaces for each grade, these students will be notified that they have been admitted to CIS for the coming year. If the number of applicants exceeds available spaces for a given grade, a lottery process will be used to fill available spaces for that grade. Is it possible to enroll a child in a New Mexico public school who is younger than 5 years of age? No, state law requires that children be 5 yrs of age as of September 1^st to enroll in a New Mexico public school.
