Registrar/STARS Coordinator

Qualifications
- Bachelors degree or higher in the area of data management or other related field
- Experience in a high school as a registrar/or knowledge of complexities of student scheduling/enrollment
- Knowledge of Power School or other student information system for maintaining student enrollment records
- Knowledge of special programs and identification requirements
- Excellent people skills and positive attitude, must enjoy the sounds of children
- Able to get a cleared background check
Duties
- Coordinate student registration and attendance on Power School.
- Compile scheduled STARS reports as required by NMPED
- Checks attendance daily to ensure all teachers are taking attendance
- Checks attendance weekly to send out letters to parents regarding student attendance for those students having unexcused absences; 3 consecutive absences, 5 consecutive absences, 7 consecutive absences, 8 consecutive absences, 9 consecutive absences.
- Calls parents of students having 5 or more consecutive absences to ensure their understanding of attendance requirements.
- Notifies head administrator, assistant principal, and counselor of students having attendance or tardy problems, and those students endanger of being dropped for non-attendance.
- Informs Administrators and/or Counselors of possible student credit deficiencies and/or unusual placements for the purpose of ensuring student success.
- Evaluates situations (e.g. involving staff, students, parents, the public, etc.) for the purpose of taking appropriate action and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.
- Interprets transcripts of incoming students (e.g. cum folders, record card, withdraw grades from previous school, fines/fees from previous school, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring their conformance with district grading, curriculum and course credit systems.
- Maintains a variety of files, documents and student records (manual and machine) (e.g. permanent student record, cumulative folders for all students, grades, transcripts, immunization dates, etc.) for the purpose of documenting and/or providing reliable information relative to student records.
- Maintains master schedules, and course booklet for the purpose of ensuring availability and accuracy of information.
- Performs enrollment and disenrollment activities on the automated student information system (e.g. student information, cum folder, monthly enrollments counts, withdraw student, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring compliance with financial, legal, state or federal requirements.
- Prepares documents (e.g. student lists, transcripts, Graduation/Dropout Reports, Ethnic Report, Course Enrollment, programs, bulletins, reports, memos, letters, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference and/or conveying information.
- Processes requests from parents/guardians, for transcripts, for the purpose of providing requested information.
- Responds to inquiries of staff, other educational institutions, the public, parents and/or students for the purpose of providing information and/or direction.
- Serves as resource to employees and/or organizations for the purpose of interpreting and conveying appropriate procedures required for student enrollment and attendance.
- Supports assigned school personnel (e.g. answers phones, greets students/parents, oversees students, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the efficient operation of the school.
- Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of Corrales International School.
